School Philosophy
At Beacon Heights School, we strive to ensure that all of our students are physically and emotionally healthy, safe, engaged, supported and intellectually challenged. We believe that our students should be given the opportunity to work at their ability level and to have a strong sense of self worth that is connected to meaningful achievement. We will engage in active learning and teaching that is relevant to our daily lives. We will develop skills for problem solving and critical thinking, which will lead to positive leadership and self discipline; establish an inclusive community through relationship building and respect, which will give everyone a place to belong; create opportunities to apply current and future technologies. This means that the students understand what they need to do, how they need to do it, and when they need to do it by. It speaks to a comprehension assessment plan that is transparent to the children using it, and to the parents that need to work with it.
